Hi Everyone,

Iknow there are many people in Beaumont and around who are interested in playingsoccer casually outside the confines of a league. I have 40 people on my phonethat I update about pickup games. In an effort to reduce the amount of textingmyself and other organizers are doing, I have created a twitter feed to updatepeople about where and when our next pickup games will be.

What isTwitter?

Twitter is a FREE micro-blogging platform,which allows you to publish short messages of less than 140 characters throughdifferent mediums like IM, cellphones and the web. Twitter can be actively usedas a tool to push out. Apart from its use as an info resource and publicitytool, Twitter is also a communication platform for individuals and theirpersonal social networks.

You can get updates in several ways. You can either getupdates – in order of increasing simplicity – via text message onyour phone, via email, or directly from the twitter website. You do not needto have a twitter account to take advantage of this service.

From the Twitter website:

Simply goto www.Twitter.com/SETXSoccer.NOTE: You do NOT need a twitter account to follow these steps.

This pagewill be updated as soon as I or someone else who has access to the feed's adminfunctions, posts a new message. You can also access the feed by going totwitter.com and searching for SETXSoccer in the search field you are promptedwith.

Email Notifications:

If you want to get email notifications of new messages,follow these simple steps. NOTE: you do NOT need a twitter account to followthese steps.

First go to www.feedmyinbox.comand enter twitter.com/setxsoccer and your email address into the empty fields.Click submit and your done! Now you will get an email anytime a new messagecomes out (see the highlighted picture below:

Text messagenotifications on your phone:

To get textmessage updates to your phone, you do need a twitter account. It is also a bitmore of a process to configure, but once you set it up, you never have to go totwitter or your email ever again. You will need to set it up at a computer onetime and after that you never need to do anything ever again. Hopefully thisstep-by-step visual guide will make it easy for you to follow.

Step1: Goto twitter.com and click the "sign up now" button.

Step2:Create an account. Enter your email address, a desired login name, password.You know how it goes. Enter what you need to enter and then click "create my account." Follow the steps that Twitter walks you through. You will not needany of Twitter's extra features if you plan to never return to the site again.You will need to enter your actual email address.

Step3:Okay, you have an account now. Next you need to access your account settings.In the top right of the screen you will see "Settings." Click on that. In thepage that opens click "Mobile." (Note, your page may have different colors anda different design, but the button layout doesn't change).

Step4: Text the word "start" to 40404. Once you do that Twitter will start texting back andforth with you asking you for more information (your login, your password, anda confirmation text). Follow twitter's directions. After three or four messagesback and forth, your phone number will be linked to your twitter account.

Step5: Goto the SETXSoccer twitter page by going to www.twitter.com/SETXSoccer (notefor this step you have to be logged into your newly created twitter account).From there click the follow button:

Once youclick follow your screen should change. You will need to click on the smallpicture of the cellphone as highlighted below:

If you havedone everything properly, your screen should look more or less like this:

If it saysfollowing and you have two green buttons next to it you are finished! Now everytime a new message gets posted, you will get that message as a text on yourcellphone. You will never need to visit the Twitter page again!
